Kayak Scupper Hole Repair

Perception sport caster 12.5 repairs and upgrades!. The two rear supper holes have a hole at the top and cracked almost to the bottom of the scupper hole. i made a kayak carrier out of pvc pipe with wheels and designed it like the ones i have seen on the forum, the ones that stick through the scupper holes.. I remember someone doing a repair along the lines of putting a sleve inside the scupper holes to seal a crack. there was a picture of the repair and it looked pretty good. the post was not recent and i just hope it was on this site and not one of the other kayak forums..

If its a crack on the top side of the kayak, welding works wonderful. but if its a crack or tear around a scupper hole or somewhere else i am not completely convinced that plastic welding is the best repair. and so what we use at the shop is a modified kevlar skid plate kit patch. so the first thing to do is determine where the kayak is leaking.
