My fishing partners dad caught a nice 30 or 40 pound black drum from the fishing pier the day we were driving down there. he caught that on cut bait i believe. we had most of our luck on the gulp alive shrimp.. One of the best things about tarpon fishing is that it is usually done in the evening once most boats are off the water and the temperatures begin to cool. most of the fishing is done inshore or near shore. many fish are caught within sight of the glamour and glitter of our very own south beach..
